KakeiMaple is manual-first: instead of connecting to your bank, you import the statements your bank already gives you. Nothing about your accounts ever leaves your control.
What you can import
- CSV exports from your bank or card — the most reliable source.
- PDF statements — useful when CSV isn’t available.
A good first import
- Download a recent statement (CSV is ideal) from your bank.
- Import it into the matching account in KakeiMaple.
- Review the transactions that come in and assign categories.
Starting with one or two recent months is plenty. You can always go further back later.
Why manual import is worth it
Because you see every transaction as it comes in, nothing enters your books without your eyes on it. That’s what makes reconciliation — and every number downstream — trustworthy.
